“Good value for a short stay”

  , Kansas City
Family of 5 visiting for son's graduation from Fort Jackson. We stayed 3 nights. The good: decent area, a lot of eateries and convenience stores close by, Fort Jackson is about 5 miles away up 77N, well lit parking lot, quick check-in, father-in-law was able to check in his room 5 hours early, large rooms and large windows, housekeeping was very friendly and the hot breakfast including scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, waffle maker, etc was really nice and unexpected. TV was basic cable (more than we have at home) and it worked well. The beds are firm and we all slept fairly well. There was a one-cup coffee maker, mini-fridge and microwave and they all worked well.Needs improvement: the sitting chair in our room looked as if someone's pet had chewed through the fabric of the arm. I also didn't realize how dirty the thing was until looking through pictures of our trip once we were home...it needs to be dumped. The staff at the front desk were not rude but not friendly either. The pool itself was nice and heated but it is surrounded by an enclosure with no heat and it was freezing. The pool towels provided by the front desk were more like bigger hand towels and there was no where to change after getting out of the pool. You had to run to your room wet and cold. Lastly, the sign in the bathroom regarding the towel usage and conservation. I'm glad hotels/motels etc are thinking about conservation however after driving 18 hours and paying for the room the last thing I want to read is "please reuse your towel for conservation sake". Overall it wasn't a bad experience and we only used the room for a few hours in the evening and for sleep. I would not recommend swimming though unless it is summer time.
