“Overbooked”

After booking online I called the motel direct to request a late check in and a room in the quietest area of the hotel. When I arrived at 8pm I had to wait 20 minutes before the desk person addressed me even though there was only one party ahead of me. I was then told there were no vacancies despite my having a confirmation code. The desk person told me I would have to go to a sister motel because they were 3 rooms overbooked and there was nothing she could do about it. She complained to me that it wasn't her problem, she started her shift at 3pm and "inherited" it from someone else. I requested a discount if I had to get back into my car and drive to another motel. After that, she proceeded to check me into my room which was apparently ready the entire time.
