“Worst I ever stayed in”

  , Buffalo Grove
I want to preface this by stating that I'm not AT ALL picky when it comes to hotels/motels/inns/whatever, but if a place can't even be bothered to check the sheets for stains before I show up, then to me, that's pretty much the very definition of "poor." Maybe we just got unlucky because I selected this place in the first place due to its "very good" rating, but our experience was anything but that. The bed sheets were stained and not at all cozy. The towels felt like sandpaper. The shower was OK (not great), but the head looked pretty old. And there were some stains on carpet as well, although that's not really a big deal. There were 3 of us in the room for 2 nights, and none of us slept very well either night, despite all being QUITE sleepy. I think clean, softer sheets would have gone an awfully long way towards fixing that. The only thing that saved this place from a "terrible" rating was that the person at the front desk was very nice and friendly and seemed eager to make our stay as pleasant as it could be. As such, I'm guessing that if I had complained about the sheets, we could have at least gotten some new ones without stains, but we got in very late both nights, and didn't want to wait to go to sleep. Besides, quite frankly, clean sheets shouldn't be something that you have to ask for... ever.
