“Not my first choice in Roanoke”

I have stayed at this hotel many times and will be staying there again because it is in a very convenient location. The other Days Inns in the Roanoke area are usually not as convenient but whenever possible I prefer the Salem location. It is newer and much better maintained. This time at Orange Ave my room did not have any clothes hangers and the hair dryer was not mounted on the wall probably because another guest pulled it down. My main gripe about the Orange Ave location is that they add a "safe fee" to your bill and you have to remember to ask them to remove it when you check out. This seems to be a common practice at many hotels. I've seen it at Super 8 and Travel Lodge as well. If I was President I would declare and Executive Order outlawing safe fees at hotels. It's just bothersome to be quoted a price when you make your reservation and the find out there is an additional charge not mentioned at reservation time. Upon check in on Mar 10th I asked the desk clerk to reomve the safe fee and she said she would and aparrently by accident she removed the sales tax also. I do not have a tax exempt number so I am obliged to pay taxes. My employer re-imbursts me for all my hotel expenses so I have no problem paying sales tax. The trouble is the clerk that checked me out on Mar.12th did not know how to add the sales tax back in and now I don't know if I will be charged for sales tax. In the meantime I have to submit and expense report to my employer and the receipt I have is for the room charges only, no sales tax. I am concerned that the hotel will charge my credit card for the sales tax sometime in the future and I will not be able to recoupe the loss because I have already submitted my expense report.
