“Just Don't”

When I arrived at the motel on a Monday afternoon, I was informed a drunk driver smashed into the water heater knocking out the hot water sometime over the weekend. Not having ground transportation to go elsewhere, I decided to check in anyway. Here's what I found.The staff was barely interested in customer service. This motel hosts rock and gem show exhibitors twice yearly. Maybe I just wasn't spending enough money to count for much of anything in their eyes in comparison.The stairs and concrete walkways and terraces were filthy. There was fruit smeared all along the way and long ago stains ignored everywhere.Once inside the room, I found the light switch by the door controlled nothing. I tried turning on one bedside lamp and found the bulb socket was loose. After tightening it up so the lamp would work, I plugged in my phone charger in the outlet above that lamp's outlet. It didn't work. I thought maybe the light switch controlled that outlet. It probably did, but flipping the switch did no good. I found all the electrical outlets in the room to be poorly anchored. They moved considerably when I plugged things in.The door security latch was similarly poorly anchored to the door. The floor was soft and creaky as if there had been massive water damage in the room at some point. The bed, on the other hand, was rock hard and creaky.There was no coffee/tea maker in the room as advertised on the website. I can't speak to the three available unsecured wi-fi connections as I brought my own secure connection to use.The continental breakfast was adequate, though the toaster obviously hasn't ever been properly cleaned and let out a stream of smoke to prove that point.Oh, yes. There was also a sign in the guest laundry room, which I doubt would pass code even if you got an inspector rip-roaring drunk, that you couldn't use both washing machines at the same time because the water would back up. And there were a couple of motel washcloths in the top dryer, probably left behind by cleaning staff.Oddly, the desk clerk didn't ask me how my stay was at check out. Can't imagine why.
