“Unusual/unbelievable/stay”

We stayed at Days Inn on Bath Road in Brunswick, Maine on April1, 2013.We discovered hundreds of ants on the washroom floor at 3:15 A.M.. When we notified the night clerk, he apologized and opened up another room for us to move into.He said the manager would be in the office by 7:00 A.M. and that we could talk to him. We then proceeded to move rooms and we were done by 4:00 A.M., not much time to sleep after since the room was extremely cold because there is no heat in them when not occupied. We used extra blankets and set the window heat equipment full blast to try to heat up the room. Upon checking out the next morning, we talked to the morning clerk and described what had happened and she knew of the situation and explained that perhaps once a year they would have this problem of ants but could not explain why it happens. The manager was there but did not come to the front desk. We did not get any credits or anything or any further apologies. It seemed that she and he did not care.The next day we were faced with many hours of driving to get home, not easy after loosing sleep during our stay! On our arrival home at 9:30 P.M., everything we had brought into your hotel had to be laundered and/or left out in our vehicle in order to freeze the ants as a precaution. We certainly did not take any chances on having ants in our home. We have travelled the U.S. for over forty years and we have stayed in many Days Inns. They have always been clean and well maintained and also have had very helpful staff. We will stay in Days Inns in the future but we will be much more cautious., however, we will not recommend the one on Bath Road in Brunswick, Maine. We would recommend that the room in which the problem occurred should be fumigated and observed periodically to determine where the ants came from. Perhaps you should fumigate the whole property to make sure the problem is corrected. The travelling public should not have to deal with a problem as we had in your property.
