“Good, clean hotel; great price; not badly located”

The Days Inn Palms Springs is a great low-cost alternative for a brief stay in sunny Springs. The place doesn't pamper you, so if you're looking for a spa experience go elsewhere. But it does offer clean rooms, a decent pool, a serviceable hot tub, and free parking, all just a few minute's drive from the center of Palm Springs. My only complaint is that they apparently don't abide by the pre-payment rules set forth on most discount hotel sites. That is, I book a pre-paid room at a discounted price, assuming my card would be charged at the time of booking, per the site's instructions. When I arrived to check-in, however, I was told what my total would be, and was then told that Days Inn doesn't actually charge cards in advance. The desk clerk spun this as a convenience to guests, which I suppose it is some way. But honestly, I was a little put off because I assumed that part of my trip was paid for, only to then discover that it wasn't. What's more, I didn't even have time to double check and make sure that I hadn't been charged ahead of time before being required to sign a stating that I agreed to pay the full amount at the time of checkout. Again, I'm willing to buy the fact that Days Inn honestly sees this is a service to guests. But as someone who budgets the cost of my travel very carefully, it's never a welcome development to learn that something you thought was going to carry a zero balance is actually going to entail an addition charge of several hundred dollars while you're on the road. So just be aware of this when budgeting for a stay at this particular property, if you book a "pre-paid" room.
