“Great, but...”

  , Anaheim
Compared to past Days Inn and other Wyndam partner experiences, we were pleasantly surprised by the appearance and cleanliness. (For some, this has been an obvious struggle.) The disappointments came the next morning. Understandably, there was an accidental problem with the coffee pouch in our room. No biggie, my husand thought, he'll just go to the office to get coffee. The room had no room info. (I called someone and counldn't tell them where I was because the room had NO identifying info. or address what so ever.) But, as with some places (and this looked to accommodate as well), they had an office breakfast area. He was hoping to find coffee and maybe a donut or some sort of small breakfast offering. He did, indeed, find coffee and only donuts there and happily returned to the room just as I got out of the shower. Sorrily, we soon discovered that we weren't even getting a bite to eat however, when the donuts turned out to be so old they were ROCK hard. My husband banged them against the desk without a break! (Well, the cake one did dash a few crumbs.) I have never in my 43 yrs. of life met a donut so hard (and I have encountered a few oldies in my time). Since he still needed a shower, I reluctantly went up the street to fetch some food. This did not put our trying day ahead of us off to a good start. We count ourselves the wiser for assuming, when we should not expect (as I said with other past expereinces). But, are hopeful that someday, we will (even if we have to leave the Wyndam family) find a hotel that just has everything we need when we pay for the room. We don't ask for much, but cleanliness, decent bed and a bite to get us off in the morning should be a start! Everytime it seems to be only 2 of 3.....
