“Nice staff, dirty/dingy rooms”

  , Denver
The hotel itself smells musty and old upon entering the lobby, and the rooms were no exception. The room was very small and dated and had a grimy, dingy feel about it that made it seem unclean. The sheets were pilled and worn to the point that they felt more like very worn flannel rather than crisp, clean sheets one expects from a hotel. The traffic noise coming through the A/C was surprisingly loud. The bathroom was small, with the sink located separate from the toilet and shower, which made getting ready difficult with sleeping/napping small children due to the noise. There was no pool or elevator, and no closets in the rooms. In the hallway, paint was peeling in spots and the flowery wallpaper border looked at least 20 years old. Several of the room doors were mismatched, as was some of the furniture from room to room (we had another party staying in a nearby room.) We seriously contemplated switching hotels after the first night but stayed out of convenience. On the plus side, the front desk staff and the maid were both very nice and accommodating, and the breakfast offered a good variety.
