“Terrible Hotel in Great Location”

  , San Antonio
OK, I was desperate but didn't realize how desperate...I arrived 1.5 hours after advertized check-in time and was told my room wasn't ready. There was a by a blonde woman barking over the phone to someone and a bothered, dark-headed man with glasses asking me if I could wait 10 minutes. I needed to change clothes and be on my way so after his discussion with another woman in a foreign tongue I was led to a room to change. This room was outfitted with mirrors on two walls and a ceiling. (I was very uncomfortable while away thinking about returning to a Room of Mirrors.)When I returned to check in I asked the innkeeper about a discount since my room was not ready. He was hostile and intimidating towards me. Need-less-to-say, I did not get the discount. The good news is my room had a reasonable number of mirrors, including one that was not hung. The bad news is the linens were worn and ill-matched, the wall color was garish, the lighting inadequate, the carpet was pitted and nasty, the smell was masked with over use of deodorizer. YUCK!!!There was a sliding window with a lock in the bathroom. This window lead to the basement/crawl space of the rear portion of the building. I could see at each window a roll of new carpet awaiting installation. The area appeared to be easily accessible. Each of the two nights I head sirens roaring until midnight.I was not made to feel welcome, clean, or safe. And I was overcharged for this rat hole.Hoping to never be stuck like this again...
