“Overnight Stay”

Checked in on 9/1/13 on the way back from a trip to Rhode Island. Arrived around 8:30pm. Lukewarm reception from the person at the front desk. No smiles, and no eye contact. We were given room 149. Walked in and the first thing I saw was a half empty bottle of wine on top of the room safe. How nice. Looking around the room I noticed that there seemed to be a lot of unused space, but since this was my 1st time staying at a Days Inn, I assumed this was there layout. Turned out not to be the case. Upon leaving my room the next day I had a chance to look into empty rooms being cleaned. Imagine my surprise to see that each room contained a sofa and a coffee table, or chairs and a table. I was shocked! They had us in a partially furnished room. Who does that? During my checkout I asked the young lady assisting me why were given such a room? Her answer was that there must have been some miscommunication about which rooms were out of service and she would inform her manager of what had happened. No offer of a discount on the price I paid, or on any future stay. No compensation of any kind. Can't speak on any other aspects such as breakfast, pool, business center etc. as I did not utilize any of that. Location was good and the bed was comfy. Not sure if I would stay there again, but if so I would most certainly will check to make sure all the furniture was in the room before I checked in!
