“High cost-Poor value”

  , Auburndale
My wife and I worked very hard and earned some overtime at work and wanted to get away for a relaxing, romantic weekend. We booked our room at this Hotel in West Palm Beach. At 5:50pm on Thursday we tried to cancel our reservation as we had a family emergency come up at last minute. We spoke to the manager and was told we would still be charged $150.00 for Friday night. They required cancelation by 4pm and would not wave for the hour and 10 minutes that we were late in calling. After our family urging us to go and relax we decided to make the drive and try to enjoy ourselves. In booking our room we wanted a hot tub to relax in and found it to be out of service all day Friday and Friday night. We left the hotel to go to the beach and our door would not lock. Front desk said they would call maintenance. We had to load everything back in the trunk of our car to be able to leave the room. ($300 for both nights and we still lived out of our trunk). When we were checking out we explained how we chose a room with a hot tub and could never use it. We were told that was to bad but the hot tub started working on Saturday afternoon. We saw advertisements for rooms at $59 a night and when we questioned why our charge was $150 they claimed it was an event weekend. I would like to know what events were there for this hotel in in the middle of nothing. It is a dump and I can not believe we had to pay $150 of our hard earned money. The air conditioning made so much noise it sounded like a helicopter was taking off. We could not sleep for noise or in the heat if we chose to have it turned off. They book to a lot of area contractors who like to roam in the parking lots and yell back and forth (day and night). The property is run down and the staff was rude when we would politely try and get our issues resolved. Bottom line, don't book here. Complimentary breakfast promised was a cup of coffee. We were told though that we could get breakfast at the I Hop off from the hotel lobby. Customer service and accommodations are poor.
