“3 Night Stay to See Jekyll and Darien”

  , Roswell
Our party was two couples who had not visited the area in over ten years. We stopped in Brunswick in the afternoon to visit an antique store and to see the downtown area before dinner. Our dinner was at the Driftwood Bistro at Villas of the Sea. All of us ordered something different from the multi-choice menu. The food was delicious with generous portions, and everyone said we must return the next evening. The next day we visited the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on the island and we had lunch in Brunswick at Willy's Wee Nee Wagon, the place for pork chop sandwich and hot dogs. In the afternoon we walked by some of the old houses in the town, and returned for dinner at the Driftwood Bistro for another wonderful meal. The third day we drove to the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation which had been a rice plantation where the cash crop was rice, and we saw the way of life of the southerner in the 1800's before the War Between the States. This is a history lesson that was well given by a knowledgeable guide. After the plantation visit we had a delicious seafood lunch at Mudcat Charlie's Restaurant on the way to Darien. Here we walked the river pier of the Altamaha River, the second largest river in Georgia.
