While looking for a hotel that was close to DePaul University I saw that this Days Inn fit that criteria. Before considering a Days Inn again I had to read the reviews first because we had stayed at two different Days Inn hotels along our route to NV from IL a month prior to this stay. To say that those experiences were disgusting is putting it mildly and I gave them both scathing reviews. In a few words, they were as if a '70's slasher movie had been filmed there and there was never a renovation. So I was very reluctant try another Days Inn.The reviews for this Lincoln Park Days Inn were mostly good and what negative issues were mentioned didn't seem like issues we would care about. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this Days Inn is! It's in an old building and even though it has been remodeled they were able to keep the charm. We booked a room with two double beds. The room was attractive, the beds were comfortable, there were four pillows on each bed and a large walk in closet with a built in bench with drawers. Also, nice was a little nook with a desk and mirror which led into the bathroom. OK, some reviewers mentioned the small bathroom and sink. Yes, it is on the small side and there isn't a counter. There is a glass shelf over the sink and the window (which opened) had a deep ledge which was fine for holding toiletries. The tub was deep and cleaner than some more upscale hotels we've stayed at. The shower fixture could have been updated but it was fine.If I were to say what was the most negative it would have to be the TV should be upgraded to a flat screen. We did not eat at their provided breakfast. Within close walking distance there are restaurants and quaint shopping. We ate breakfast at the Edge and it is highly recommended. The Days Inn staff was extremely friendly and answered any questions we had. After inquiring about the Executive rooms we were given a voucher for a free upgrade on our next visit.Overall, the room and bathroom were bright, clean and comfortable. We booked another room for Parent's Weekend.
