“Okay for the price., wouldn't return”

The staff was all very friendly. Our room was clean but it STANK something awful! It was a nonsmoking room and thankfully I wouldn't say the smell was old cigarettes, like one often encounters! But it was like an ultra-concentrated mildewy/musty/stale air odor that was literally overpowering. People with allergies beware! The cleanliness was otherwise great, and no signs of bedbugs or anything. So we stuck it out (was only for a night, anyway,). But we had to leave the door open for the first few hours just to make it bearable. I suspect the super-old window A/C units had a lot to do with the problem. (We thought turning it on might help air the place out....but it only made things worse!) The furniture was also in need of repair or replacing. Twice one of us leaned on the table and nearly fell over when the whole top tilted & almost fell off with our weight! And one of the chair legs seemed to be holding on by a prayer! Oh, and it was GROSS to find that the shampoo bottles we were given had both clearly been used by previous guest!!! The maid had apparently simply addedd WATER to them so they'd LOOK full and new! (They looked really watery when I picked them up...and on closer inspection I saw a line of thicker shampoo that stopped halfway up the bottle, then water. The maid may have mixed them, but they obviously separated back out.) My only other complaint is that the continental breakfast, which was a critical part of our hotel choice, was completely shut down and put away by 9:20AM after we were told it would be available until 10AM on Sat. It was VERY disappointing to have to add stopping for breakfast to our morning!
