“I booked this hotel to be closer to the airport for an...”

I booked this hotel to be closer to the airport for an early morning flight scheduled for the next day. I arrived to find that they had had a power outage and there was an issue with their computers. A man behind the desk advised me that the other man would be waiting on me. There was no other acknowledgement. After getting no greeting from the man, I sat with 2 women who were also checking in. They commented that they had been there for 5 minutes so I figured that this would be resolved soon. The women were processed and advised that they would be receiving a complimentary meal for their patience. They declined having already eaten. I was checked in after the ladies with no apology nor an offer of meal ...I was surprised but then ...he never even acknowledged me! So, being unfamiliar with the area, the poor weather, and the fact that I had an early flight, I stayed in my room and instead dined on the breakfast bar I had packed for my breakfast. The room was ok for the price. The soap dish in the shower was clinging on by some caulking. Thankfully I tested the hassock/footstool before fully seating myself as it only had 3 of its 4 legs. What a surprise that would have been! Especially as I had hip surgery in July! SO SO glad that I tested it ! What a bad start to my vacation that would been...a disaster potentially. I slept ok and checked out about 0415 hours by slipping the keycard through a pass through window at the outside of the lobby. I made it to my flight on time which was my intent but was not impressed at all with the front desk and it's lack of customer service. I did not comment on shower or hassock issues as I figured if he had a problem with check -in, adding more to his plate would be useless.
