I arrived on March 9th at Days Inn, 2500 West 33rd St, Orlando, I was given rm118 where at least three lights did not work. The room appeared unclean, the smell was bad. But the most important thing was NO Internet WiFi signal inside the room, I had to go outside to do my work in the cold. I asked for a room change and was refused and was told that the technician was on his way to fix the problem and it should be fixed after our dinner. Well NO INTERNET and nothing was fixed, which was not a surprise as I expected it to be just a story. I went to the front desk and asked for a room transfer again. The lady told me that the technician had just passed me by to fix the WiFi. But nothing worked until it was late and I went to sleep. So I spent the day without Internet. I was upset by then that they won't change rooms (which is an easy and usual practice for any hotels) and instead they played me like a fool. The next day I noticed that many rooms went vacant and rm125 has strong WiFi signal around it, so I went to the counter and asked for rm125 only this time I insisted. The lady at the counter VERY reluctantly agreed to switch room only to warn me that I had no more rights to switch rooms again if the Internet still does not work inside rm125. Ok! Hitler! Rm125 was a better room all lights working and it looked clean. I reserved a room way ahead of our arrival I thought at least they could reserve a decent unit for me, but it wasn't so. When I made the reservation I was told the room price and I asked if there is any other charges? The lady told there was Tax charges. To be cautious, I asked if there was any OTHER charges? She told me no. But when the bill came, the hotel charged me $2.00/day for "Service Charge"! I asked what service? Clerk told me it was for parking, manager told me it was for "General Service". Good Grief! The hotel workers at the front desk was obviously taking the opposite position to the customer's. Nothing is easy until you put your foot down. Why is this so? I don't know, but It is not giving customer a good feeling. I understand, this is a budget hotel, and I am not asking for 5star service. At least if price includes Internet I should get the Internet. Why gave me all the stories about fixing the Internet when nothing was fixed for 6 days while I was there?! Why was a simple room switch so difficult at Days Inn when other hotels treat it as a routine? I think management attention is required. « less
