“Will Not Stay Here Again”

I was registered for a five-day stay at the Days Inn while in Palm Coast on business, with plans to extend the stay further. After staying for one night, I returned to the hotel after a long day and found the door to my room was open. I called the front desk and was placed on a lengthy hold. I then proceeded to the front desk and the manager told me the hotel staff had probably left the door open, and it was not a big deal since they had likely cleaned the room late in the day. I expressed my extreme disappointment with having my room left open, and he remarked that I needed to keep quiet since he was the only one who could assist me (ie, if I didn't shut up he wouldn't help me). He did not ask, for example, if anything was missing from the room. He then left me standing there for five minutes while he assisted another customer, and then offered me a $20 credit for the inconvenience. I returned to my room, collected my things and checked out and they charged me for the second night's stay anyway. Very unprofessional. I would never stay there again, nor would I send any of my customers there. I happened to be in town opening a new business with 30 employees and many customers who travel into Palm Coast. I'll be directing them to the Fairfield.
