“Cheap, Relatively Clean, but Unaccommodating”

There are many bad things about this hotel that you should just expect to come with the territory of a cheap hotel. Outdoor access rooms, loud AC units, old design, crumbling infrastructure, uncomfortable beds, etc. However, there were several bad things that could be improved with better management. The beds were extremely firm, and there weren't enough pillows to keep my pregnant wife comfortable or enough blankets to keep me warm since she needs the AC very low at night. At first I was told that there simply aren't any extra blankets or pillows available. After politely pointing out there seemed to be many unoccupied rooms that we could borrow some of the bedding from, I was told flat out that they just don't give extra pillows and bedding. When I told her the bed was too firm, she replied "the pillow top???". The look she gave seemed to question my intelligence and my sanity. I was promised that a manager would be consulted and I would be called. That never happened. We went to Walmart to buy a comforter and came back to see that the room next to ours was now occupied despite the hotel being at no more than 10% occupancy. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but he was a smoker and made several loud trips out of the room to smoke. He had an animated conversation with another guest outside our rooms very late at night, but it at least was drowned out when the AC unit would kick on since it sounded like it was run by a diesel engine. Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well. On our last night we came back very late to discover that our key cards didn't work on our door. Fortunately, there was a rep there, the same one who told me that I couldn't have extra bedding. She "re-keyed" my card without the slightest hint of apology for the keys not working or failing to get back to me about the bedding. There were many, many other options nearby. I'd suggest spending a little more to go elsewhere.
