“Payment Problems Impedes Enjoyment”

My husband and daughter travelled to Ottawa for her university orientation. I had prepaid through our company's discount call centre using my credit card along with faxing in the requested 'pre-authorization' form directly to the hotel that evening. I was awoken at 12:38am by my distraught daughter saying the credit card wasn't working and that they were being charged $150 for the room.Upon further discussion with her she explained they were in the room, but that they would be charged in the morning the rate for the room. Knowing this was already prepaid, I called the hotel directly. I was placed on a brief hold while the gentleman retrieved my information. I will admit I'm not a great person when my family is upset, nor am I the greatest when awoken at that hour of the morning either. So I was a little terse when he proceeded to ask me to verify all kinds of information, as well as verify my credit card number. I instead asked HIM to verify what HE had as my card number and I would tell him if it was correct. The fourth digit he had was incorrect...he thought it was a '1' instead of a '7'.Then he proceeded to explain that the standard rate would be charged and I explained that the rate we pre-booked with through our corporate rate would be charged, correct?' He backed up and said that yes, that was correct, it would be charged the corporate rate. By this time I'm livid so asked once again if all was now fixed - he stated yes, it is all correct now. I thanked him and hung up.Texted back to daughter to explain and she gave me further information - that my husband and herself had both told the gentleman that it was a '7' not a '1' in the first place...all that grief for not taking a moment to listen to the customer??Night sleep was fine after that. Room was nice I was told - daughter loved the in room air conditioning and husband appreciated the comfort of the queen sized bed.All in all - a great stay except for the awful payment mix up that early in the morning.
