The Maui Oceanfront Inn- Day's Inn is on one of the best beaches on Maui so right there it's worth checking out. This hotel was recommended by a friend so we were warned what to expect and ultimately we were not disappointed. However, the rooms are tiny and dated and I would suggest they do not match the standards set by Days Inn's elsewhere. Here's the thing, it's cheap. We paid $70 a night. The other places that share the beach were at least $225 a night and they don't have air conditioning. Make sure you bring or buy a beach towel as the MOI seems to run out every morning. The rooms were pretty clean but there were many bugs climbing on our walls and geckos in the room. We did mention it and the next day there were fewer (not too sure if they did anything). The rooms are tiny but do you really need a big place? I say a bit bigger would be better. On maui, the town seems to shut down at 7 pm and then you have to hang out in your room for the evening. Note about the bed: It is a temperpedic but my wife and I found it really hard and didn't have a good night sleep. In the end, we were happy as the value for money out weighed the short comings. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a cheap getaway.Next trip to Maui, I would probably save up and spend the big bucks to stay at one of the giant resorts. The days Inn should really do a tear down and rebuild to make the property on par with their properties on the mainland. $150 a night on that beach would still be amazing especially if the property was up to date.
