“Not what I expected”

We have live in that area for years and had moved in 2005. We came into town for one of our many visits with close friends for a wedding. We picked this hotel because it was centrally located between all our friends and all the places we wanted to visit while we were there. We did arrive early, seeing as we drove 6 hours and there was a room available for us to check in at 130pm. The person who checked us in was delightful. He did end up calling us on the phone because he needed to have a copy of our card on file for incentals. he showed and we believed our card was already charged for our two nights. We met up with friends that night and stayed out late and was trying to sleep in the next day when housekeeping came around 11am to clean. Not a problem, I understand that, but the manager on duty at that time, instead of calling us or something had the housekeeper tell me I had to go to the office right away. I bolted up, and went down to the office. Now realize, it was cold and i also had no idea this hotel had the doors open to the outside, not an inside hotel. I had no idea of this. He said our hotel was not paid for and I paid him in cash and just told him I will check my card later to see if I can find the charge for the room. I didn't bring my laptop and the Wi-Fi there was very weak. Now, our room needed alot of cleaning done. The lamps weren't working correctly, burnt bulbs, the tv remote was missing and we had to wait over an hour to get one. The carpet in this room is horrible. I woulldn't even walk around barefoot on it. I didn't even bother taking a shower during my stay because I didn't want to walk on the filthy carpet. i have no idea what the other rooms even looked like. There is tons of dust behind the nightstands and bed. I noticed this when i was looking for the remote for the tv. I was just not very happy with the rooms there at all or the unprofessionalism of the staff that morning.
