“TOO MANY PROBLEMS”

  , San Diego
On arrival front desk attendant tried to have my signature for a credit card payment for 10 nights, which created an argument, because I explained that I can check out before, and it's common to pay on check out. I was tired from a long flight and didn't need the argument.I was put in room 202. Night was too cold in the room with freezing temperatures outside. Air-condition thermostat was impossible to adjust. Either sweating heat or freezing cold. Air-condition looks old with broken plastic panels, with signs of previous visitors struggling with the machine.Next night, the air-condition stopped to work altogether. I called the front desk. The hotel was fully booked and there was no portable heater. I would need to wait for maintenance in the morning. I sleep with few layers of cloths and still freezing. In the morning, the day manager Donte (spelling?) verified that the air-condition didn't work and changed my room to 117, the only other available room.Room has a common wall with the Dining Room that is used on Sundays by a few local churches for loud religious ceremonies, with me as an unwilling participant. At night, around 3:30 am and until my time to wake up at 5:00 am there were frequent loud noises, which I was not sure where they were coming from. The next night the noise started again at 3:30 am. I foundnd that was the front desk attendant Alfred preparing the dining room for the continental breakfast. I explained to Alfred that I needed to work during my visit to Chicago and had only 5 hours to sleep from midnight to 5 am. Alfred said that he will "do what I (he) could not to make noise", which was still noisy until 4:30 am...The next day I called the hotel and was promised that my room would be changed. When I arrived at the hotel at 10 pm, the only available other rooms were 202, with the air-condition still broken, and another noisy room adjacent to the elevator. I stayed in room 117, and wrote a note requesting the expected night attendant Tara to prepare for breakfast quietly. Which she did. The next night when I returned to the hotel, night attendant Alfred apologized and promised to do things quietly, Which he did. This was following, I believe the day manager Donte reading my note to Tara. The Wi-Fi mostly doesn't work. Missing iron-board in my room. The day manager Donte does his best to resolve problems, but he doesn't work every day, and some problems he cannot solve.Hotel lobby is dusty in the middle of renovation.
