“Days Inn Libertyville 1/24/14”

I was extremely displeased with my stay at the Libertyville Days Inn. I was staying there before an important interview with a nearby university. I booked my room the night before online and saw there would be wireless internet service in my room. Once checked in I turned on my laptop and could not find wifi for the internet. Upon calling the front desk I was told this was the result of the strong winds and would have my information taken down for the manager to give me a "credit." I had booked this room specifically because it offered wifi, as I needed to use the internet to do research in preparation for my interview. It was very unfortunate that wifi was not available as promised and I was extremely frustrated that I could not get my work done that night. I had to wake up extra early in the morning to checkout and find another location to complete my work before the interview, it was a terrible inconvenience. When checking out I again mentioned to lack of wifi to make sure my information would be received by the manager. This employee told me the wifi had been out of service for weeks because of flooding in the office. I felt deceived by the advertising that led me to stay at this location, and upset that I was lied to by an employee as their stories conflicted. Also I feel this information should have been relayed to me somehow before checking in to the hotel so I could have made arrangements to stay elsewhere before it became too late. My room did not have a smoke detector either, which I noticed on my way out in the morning. There was none connected to the wires and bracket on the ceiling. This was a disturbing thought on my way out, had there been an emergency situation the night before. I have still not heard from a manager regarding my concerns.
