Days Inn Des Moines/Merle Hay

I have read your concerns regarding your stay and have personally checked the room you stayed in. The bedding, including the mattress, sheets bed-spreads are all new or less then six months old. The television and cable was in working order all the way from local channels to our premium channels. You received a rate of $59.99 on a Non-Smoking, ground floor King sized room because of the lateness of the hour you checked in at. The desk agent said he received no complaints from you regarding the state of your room. « hide

I have read your statements and have checked all of the log books made by managers as well as any notes made by my housekeeping staff. At no time does housekeeping note any discrepancies or damages to your room. Maintenance records indicates there was nothing wrong with the shower. As far as your statement that the shower room was dimly lit, Mid-American energy installed new lighting devices which do take approximately ten minutes before they are fully illuminated. According to my managers on duty during your stay, they indicate that there was not a single complaint lodged for your two rooms during your four day stay. « hide

Regarding your comments of April 10; you were informed by the desk clerk that she would look for your pillow and call you back when she found it. The pillow was not found and she went off duty before the housekeepers completed their search. The individual who replaced her had read the note regarding this and waited for the housekeepers to complete their duties. You called the Motel and spoke to the desk agent who had just come on duty and began to repeat the discreption of the pillow which was already written down. He told you that the pillow had not been found and that he would have the housekeepers sift through all of the linen in the laundry room to see if it had been inadvertently mixed-in with Motel property. You were unrelenting in your insistence that the desk agent personally find your pillow immediately. He again, patiently explained what he was going to do in order to secure your pillow and you stated that you were "going to call Days-Inn headquarters". The agent thanked you and you then hung up. Regarding an "out right lie" at no time did any one at this location give you a mis-truth about anything. However an "out right lie" is when someone says they left a cell phone in the room they occupied but never brought that subject up until it suits them. « hide

The music you complained about from the bar next door does not continue past midnight. This is a city ordinance and strictly enforced by my staff. We have not hesitated in the past to contact law enforcement whenever that law is broken. Within the past year, they have complied with the law. I personally have stayed in this Motel, often occupying the same room that you had. Our drapes are very heavy and no light, artificial or natural, comes through the window covering. I have made maintenance aware of your concern regarding the paint/caulk along the tile in the shower and they have corrected the proplem. « hide
