“Not very clean, not very quiet, not very comfortable.”

  , Chandler
Checking into this property, I was not allowed to enter the building, but had to exchange information through a slot in the window while a prostitute marched up and down the sidewalk near by, wandering in and out of a room. The woman who checked me in did not give me clear directions as to where my room was, and told me to just take the elevator, without telling me where the elevator was either when I specifically asked for guidance. The room was neat in appearance, but when I tried to plug in the phone and alarm clock (both unplugged), I noticed a large pile of loose debris on the floor around the end table and and bed. The pillows were shabby and discolored, making it easy to remember that lots of people had slept in this bed before me, and that the housekeeping staff aren't terribly meticulous. Once I turned out the lights and tried to sleep, there was a constant noise that sounded like dump trucks, but lasted at least an hour. I have no idea what it was, but it made falling asleep quite difficult. In the morning, I discovered that there was only one very small bar of soap to be shared between the sink and shower, and that there was no bathmat. I did not bother to complain, because I just wanted my stay to be over. When I checked out, the man at the desk didn't ask if everything was ok, and did not seem approachable enough for me to feel ok bringing it up. Over all, the location was convenient, but I wasn't happy to stay in such a place with my twelve year old son. It just didn't feel safe or pleasant.
