“Stay somewhere else”

When I reviewed hotels for McPherson, I thought we would try Days Inn to save a little money. I called Kyle at front desk, very friendly and helpful and made reservation direct with hotel. I told Kyle the estimated time we would get there and he said upon check in, if our room was ready, we could have it if available. When we checked in, Megan at the front desk had a weird look on her face and said Check in isn't until 3:00pm (or whatever time, later than noon when we got there). I said, I know, but they told us to check and see if our room was ready, we could go ahead and unload and go eat somewhere. She said, well, I'll have to check and see if your room is ready and just looked at me. I said yes, please do that, looked at my husband and he said, we can leave if that would be easier and just check into Holiday Inn next door. So, she leaves, goes upstairs and comes back down and says our room was ready. By this time, we were already done. Then, we find out there is no elevator. The inside stairwell is small, there is white chips of stuff all over the carpeting going up the stairs. The bathroom door has to be forced to shut, the carpet needed to be vacuumed more. But still, only going to be there one night this time, when we come back in June and August for longer stays will be at Holiday Inn or in Hutchinson or Salina. When we went down to hot tub later in the afternoon, it would barely run. It was barely stirring the water around. Disappointing. The new person on the front desk shift was very nice and tried to help but nothing she could do. The next morning, tried to get some apple juice, not a coffee drinker. No OJ or apple juice coming out of dispenser. I let her know, and she checked the wall and the breaker was off. She made a phone call, and received no help, and my husband helped find the breaker that was off and the wall started working again. At the same time, she was having to prepare breakfast items, refill them, answer phones, check in or check out guests, do laundry and I don't know what else. She had a great attitude and didn't gripe but seems like maybe someone needs to come in in the morning to overlap the shift a bit. I won't stay in this hotel again, and will just bite the bullet and pay the extra money to stay in a better maintained hotel. No internet on computer in lobby for guests. We will be coming many times throughout the year but will not be staying here again.
