“Not good”

  , Decatur
I have stayed at several Days Inn over time. This was the worst ever. 1.The stucco ceiling was coming down in several places in huge chunks, one where the A/C in the room above obviously leaks. It appeared to have been repaired in the past. The ceiling over the tub was also coming down. 2. The shower walls were covered with larger areas of mold where the tiles join. That should be easy to clean. We did not feel comfortable taking a shower in it, so we didn't. What is the problem?3. The sink stopper was broken. There was a roach in the sink. after washing him down twice, I push the stopper down so he could not come back. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the stopper back up so that the sink would not drain. I finally prided it up & just sat it on the counter.4. The bed linens did not look or feel clean and they were threadbare. We were afraid to sleep on sheet that looked as though they'd already been slept on several times. We put something over them. Judging from the mold, I suspect they had not been changed. The pillows need replacing. They were lumpy. 5. The carpet felt nasty. It was in bad need of being shampooed. I was hesitant in walking on it barefoot. 6. The room smelled musty and damp. That may have been from the A/C leaking which could cause unseen mold in the ceiling and carpet.7. There were also lights with blown blubs which would, of course, not work.Since we had travelled a long distance & were extremely tired, we didn't feel up to changing motels. We should have.We got a good rate from the welcome center coupon book $49.95, but had I known it was so bad we would have gone elsewhere and paid the $80 others were offering. There was at least one motel that offered a lower rate than Days Inn that could not have been worse. The only highlight was the gentleman who checked me in. He was very cordial and professional. Based on my stay in Elizabethtown, I don't plan to ever risk another stay at Days Inn. I say this not to be mean, but to just tell like it is. I don't see how you can survive under such deplorable conditions.
