“Rude Hotel Staff”

I am from Cape Town, South Africa. I phoned to cancel my stay due to our flights being cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. When I courteously asked if the hotel staff was OK and that everyone was safe after the hurricane, I was told to "please get to the point" as he was very busy. I then continued to ask about a possible refund, the staff member then told me that they were only cancelling booking until the Thursday and that as my stay was booked for the Saturday I should get an alternative flight to fulfill my stay.I then explained that my entire trip was cancelled and this would not be a feasible option to come and stay there for ONE night. At this point he said, "well we're not giving refunds for that date at this time". "Is that all, goodbye" and put the phone down.I really wish I had noted his name. But I placed the call on Tuesday 06 November (in the morning).United Airlines and The Riviera in Las Vegas were kind enough to process refunds even though their policies stated otherwise. We will be doing this trip next year. We will be using United Airlines and the Riviera Hotel, but I will not even remotely consider your hotel even for a one hour stop over.If the staff were friendly and courteous it would not have been an issue, but being treated in a such a manner by people in the service industry left me speechless.
