“Won't be returning to Days Inn”

My wife and I always stay at this Day's Inn when we travel to Portland. However, after this trip I won't be returning. The hallway between doors B and C was under construction. There was a huge mess with some caution tape. You could see what appeared to be mold behind the walls. Once in the room, we found the doorknob to the bathroom loose and barely functional. Someone had laid the clothes iron on the floor as there was a huge iron shaped burn in the carpet. There was a hole in the window frame letting in cold air. Finally, the shower walls had a red sheen to them.We checked in to the room rather late, so my wife decided she would go down the desk in the morning. The manager gave her a hard time because she didn't complain when we checked in. She explained that it was late and we just wanted to get some sleep. After a bit of arguing he offered to let us change rooms to "whatever he had available", and offered to refund our room charge ($10). His "whatever he had available" comment made me decide to put up with what I had, but I accepted the room credit.The bottom line is that this hotel's quality is going down hill--bad and I won't be returning. Yes the room was only $59/night whereas many of the surrounding hotels are $79-$120+, but cheap doesn't have to mean run down and dirty.
