“Issue to report on”

We scheduled the room through Priceline.com. Before we arrived at the hotel, the cost agreed to on Priceline was deducted from our credit card. We understood that we had paid for 10 days for two people at a pet-friendly hotel. At the time we scheduled the contract we were staying in a Motel 6, which also claims to be pet-friendly. We have our 9-pound, 11-year-old dog with us. At Motel 6, there is no extra charge for the dog, because the motel is pet friendly. When we arrived at Days Inn to check in - after we had already paid for the 10-day stay - the hotel staff explained that, although the hotel is pet friendly, there is a $20 per day surcharge for having a dog. We explained that the full price was supposed to be included in the Priceline cost. Notwithstanding, the clerk said that the policy was to charge $20 per day and charged us $226 more on our credit card. I mentioned it to a different clerk when we checked out, saying that there needs to be some coordination with Priceline, so that a customer would not come expecting the full amount to be paid, and then to have an additional amount charged - particularly when other pet-friendly hotel chains do not charge a surcharge. The clerk said that if we were to go on the Days Inn website we would have seen the information on the pet surcharge expense. I explained that we did not order the room through the Days Inn website, and it was supposed to be the full cost at Priceline. My suggestion is that Days Inn work with Priceline to state that pets are not included in the cost, even though the hotel claims to be pet friendly. I hope this feedback helps your company to work this out with Priceline so other customers will not get a surprise extra fee.
