“Sort of the worst I've ever experienced”

  , South Berwick
This place was by far the most filthy, unsafe feeling place I've ever stayed in, and I travel a great deal on business. The room was ramshackle with visible dirt on every single visible surface (including walls, doors, sink fixtures, etc.). The drapes were falling off the rod, there were holes in the walls and ceilings, and there was actual writing and graphiti on the bathroom walls. It smelled bad and the comforter was covered with stains (that I tried to pretend had at least been attempted to wash out). This is all bad enough, but the hotel itself is sandwiched between an x-rated book store and a strip club, and the doors to the hallway accessing the rooms on the first floor do not lock (nor do they look like they are intended to lock). Needless to say, I scurried from my car to my room as quickly as possible, locked the door behind me and propped a chair up in front of the door.I tried to book a different hotel for my second night, but everything was full (it was a Saturday). I thought about heading to the casino nearby and staying awake all night playing slots (figured I'd be safer) but hadn't brought enough cash with me to play that long.In a nutshell, unless you are a hooker/john, a crack head or homeless (although having worked at a shelter in the past, I can say with authority, that this hotel was worse) pass it by. I don't care if they offer you the room for free.
