“Good Family Accommodation in Cape Cod”

  , Carrickfergus
The room had all the amenities one would expect from a Day's Inn. It was a fair size and had a good size bathroom and a huge deluxe king size bed. The free breakfast wasn't bad, with bread, butter, jam, muffins, bagels, scrambled eggs, juices, teas and coffees, muffins and croissants (not proper ones though) cereals, fruit. It was a decent size breakfast room, it got quite busy, though we always found a table. We were there at the height of the season. The hotel has 2 pools, which looked nice and had a life guard, only one open at a time, we didn't use pools. There was a spa pool in the indoor pool area, which looked nice. The reception on HBO was poor, but most people are not in their rooms that much.Value wise, for a couple it didn't work out that cheaply, although cheaper than many places on Capd Cod during high season, but perhaps for families sharing a double double it would be much better value. The downside was the WIFI service, which was advertised as a free service...it was impossible to connect to the internet using WIFI for 50% of our stay. Reception staff did nothing to help when approached, a shrug and a 'Well ours is working...' Several people appeared at the reception area with the same problem, but no solution unfortunately. On check out I spoke to a different person and she said lack of WIFI connection was a common problem but was not easy to sort as as the hotel basically needs a new system. I asked to speak to the manager, who after a bit of an interrogation of my complaint offered me a 50% discount on the previous night's stay. This was a very welcome gesture, however, it was very frustrating not to be able to access work emails etc while staying at the hotel. So, if WIFI is a priority, then you need to double check with the hotel if they have upgraded their system. It worked for us 50 % of our stay, so you could be lucky or unlucky! The hotel is beside a mall with a cinema and is in what I would call a typical out of town area, with a strip of chain shops and fast food outlets. It is fine if you don't want any old Cape Cod charm. Not a romantic place to stay, functional and business like. Easy driving distance from Boston.
