“Bad Experience at 'Weird' Place”

  , Knoxville
Pulled up to motel and there were cops cars arresting someone. Our room was interior (no outside door), but the hallways were STRANGE---out of the 70's...like an outdoor (indoor) patio gone wrong. Room was extremely dated, lots of coats of paint over cracks and old outlet covers. Carpet had toothpaste-like marks and a handful of M&M's next to bed on floor. Bad polyester cover on bed. Flickering fluorescent light as main light in room. Continental breakfast the next morning was heated things from the frozen grocery section. Nothing a 'healthy breakfast' person wanted to eat. My husband thought the biscuits and gravy was okay. We had a toddler, and the indoor playground was bizarre. Outdoor equipment on super thin carpet over standard concrete floor does not make sense to me. Play area also had a bunch of coin operated rides and patio chairs. When I asked for a scoop for the ice machine, front desk gave me a small baggie (?). We paid $57/night and were expecting 'motel', but this left me with a bad Days Inn impression. Slept fine, no noise issues, but motel/hotel was not seemingly at more than a handful of people staying over. It was easy to find off interstate and within a short distance of where we wanted to make a few stops. I would have much rather paid another $15-20 and stayed somewhere else, but I didn't know. Not sure if this was Days Inn normal or just this location.
