“My stay was "not so hot."”

I booked my stay at the Days Inn because I was looking for something inexpensive. I was not expecting anything extravagant, but I did expect hot water, privacy, and sleep. After a smooth, polite check-in, I found my room... with the maid still in it. The staff managed to intercept us before I could turn around to go downstairs, they showed us another room. The room had no towels, but the staff member brought us a new key and towels.I went to take a shower. There was plenty of hot water, but none getting up to the shower head. Not wanting any more delays, I was ready to settle for a bath. Unfortunately, the tub would not fill. I went downstairs to talk to the front desk; I asked if we could switch rooms. She said she had no more available rooms, but would send the maintenance man. The maintenance man was in and out of the room several times over the course of over an hour. While the maintenance man was doing his thing, I went to the front desk girl to ask if there was a way to get my money back so I could go elsewhere. She said she'd have to ask her manager, and she'd get back to me. She never did. When I got back upstairs, the bath tub would now fill - but not stay filled. The shower still did not function properly; I had to kneel in the tub to wash my hair the next morning. After a noisy evening of people hanging out in the hallway and being loud in the room next door, I headed down to check-out. I spoke with the same young lady from the evening before. I reminded her about the plumbing situation, and explained that I didn't get what I paid for. No privacy, no hot shower, and no sleep. She apologized multiple times, and kept saying that she could not take any discounts or make any decisions. When she called her manager, no one answered. She then "spoke" with him about my situation via text message; which I found inefficient and rude. Apparently the manager was "in charge" elsewhere and could not speak on the phone. No decision was made during their texting to refund any part of my stay. The young lady took my name and phone number, I was told I'd be contacted. No one has. I was told that I'd see the credit in my account within a few days if the manager approved one. No credit has posted. I'm bothered that no one in the building was able to make the decisions necessary to provide good customer service in absence of their manager. I will not return to this Days Inn, and I'm unsure if I would try another one.
