“The room was drab and uninspiring. It really looked like...”

The room was drab and uninspiring. It really looked like the property needed a rehab. The door seemed a little loose, but it did close and lock securely enough. The bathroom faucet made a lot of noise. The sign that said ice and vending pointed to where the ice machine was, but no vending. This was the third hotel on my trip after staying at a Hampton Inn and a Comfort Inn, and those two made this place look much worse by comparison. For an extra $10-20 a night, I would have rather gone to a Comfort Inn. The breakfast had much less choices, and the apple juice tasted like it had previously dispensed orange juice and no one had bothered to clean it. The waffle iron had no lubricant like the previous places I stayed, so the waffle was completely adhered to the iron. I gave up and left to go get breakfast at Burger King. At check-in, the front desk clerk asked to see the card I used to reserve the room, and then promptly charged the card. Both the previous hotels I stayed at were smart and courteous enough to ask if the card used for the reservation was the method of payment I wanted to use. As I was traveling with a friend and we were splitting charges, it was desired that my friend actually pick up the tab on this hotel stay, but this place didn't even ask. I'm not sure why this Days Inn doesn't trust the corporate reservation system and wants to charge the card on check in - the other two places were confident enough my card used for the reservation could be charged after I left.
