“On long drive back to Florida from Oklahoma all we wanted...”

  , Crawfordvile
On long drive back to Florida from Oklahoma all we wanted was a comfortable bed with pleasant environment to stay one night & where I could watch my college football game. Unfortunately we got none of our wishes First mistake was making reservation online through AARP as we traveled. Should have known better from previous experience to pick a motel site unseen, but thought it should be reasonably safe being in a reputable motel chain & with lovely description of being on Mississippi River. It was on embankment overlooking the bank of the Mississippi River, but was more like a renovated Civil War fort. Our room number was in the 300s, but was more like in dungeon/basement. Ground level was in the 100's & the floor above us had numbers in 200s, but strangely we had to go down stairs to get to our room in the 300s. The floor looked like it may have been underwater or flooded at one time. The room next to ours had towel rolled up & covering base of door outside. It was already late & thought might be manageable, but then inside the room wasn't any better. The bed was like the hill the motel was built on. Either side you slept you would roll in middle & had to be careful getting out of bed with bed rails sticking. And then to top it off the TV was snowy on screen as I tried to watch my football game. Would not recommend to anyone even if they are just passing through looking for nights rest.
