“Don't book during homecoming”

I made this reservation in January for Homecoming at UCM. Two days before my stay I get an email confirmation of a CANCELLATION. I did not cancell. I called 15 minutes after the email was sent and the hotel would not reserve a room even though they had 2 available. They would not give me a romm because they had a 2 day requirement and I was only staying one night. The corporate office was just as bad to deal with. They wanted to book me in a hotel 16 miles away and claimed they could do nothing. The corporate people would not give out last names as it was a "security issue". I could not get the corporate office to let me talk with a supervisor. All they were offering was to pay the difference in the cost of the hotel 16 miles away. On top of it all the call was at 11:00 to reserve this room 16 miles away and it was non cancellable After a couple hours on the phone they finally agreed to pay the room and for the substance amount of travel expense I would occur.The supervisor never called me back like I requested this simply came from the "customer care representative" That is not the name I would give this department.After they agreed to this I asked if they would call the hotel and at least place me first on the cancellation list. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THEY WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE. I was able to get a room after someone cancelled but they still harrassed me about a two night stay. Even when I checked out the owner was stating he was not the one that cancelled the reservation. I am sure he had no reason to cancell my reservation at $50 per night for one night when he turned and rented the room for $75.00 per night for two nights. Yea right he did not cancell. From the looks of this room and hotel I am sure they do not get any business except for Homecoming and graduation. The halls had a musty smell the sink was pulling away from the wall. They could not even provide an up to date TV channel list. The keys to the room were hit and miss so be sure to get two like I did. every time I went to the front desk no one was there and you had to use a phone to call for them. I have a stay booked at a different Days Inn in two weeks and will cancell as I will never stay at this hotel again.. It would be better to sleep in your car than to stay in this hotel
