“inconsistency with reservation and actual hotel”

I made my reservation through the 1-800 number based on the online information that said there was NO pet fee at this hotel. When I spoke with the reservation agent, she stated that there was a pet fee ($10 per pet). When I told her that the online information said there wasn't and that was why I chose Days Inn, she said there wouldn't be one charged. On arrival at the hotel, we were told they didn't accept pets at all, and especially in the "suite" we were assigned. When I explained the reservation to the owner, he again reiterated that they do not accept pets at this hotel. Despite the fact that it was after 10 pm, I asked him if he wanted us to find other accommodations and he said "yes". I was speaking to my husband when the owner said he would let us stay if we paid $30 for our pets, but he was reluctant to do this and came across very irritated. We did end up staying, but we paid more for the room than was initially planned and I felt that the owner was put out with our request despite the reservation agent having said that pets would be welcome. I will not be using Days Inn again if the policies are not consistent between reservations and the local hotel, I will also be sure to speak directly to the owners about pets if I ever have the need for a Days Inn again.
