“Needs to take hospitality course.”

My family had gathered for a wedding in the area. Days Inn had typically been a sound choice, however this particular Days Inn fell well below what we have experienced in the past. Check in was difficult, as one family member had booked the rooms, and three were paying separately. This was a major issue with the check in person as the credit cards we offered in payment were not the same as the card given to reserve the rooms., In trying to explain why the cards would all be different, the check in person became obviously frustrated, we came very close to be denying access to our rooms until the person who booked the rooms could produce the card the rooms has been reserved with. She was arriving several hours we did. This added to our frustration as we had driven six hours, and simply wanted to relax for a bit. One family member asked to have their room changed, as they had requested a non smoking room and the room reeked of smoke. The cleanliness was marginal. The lobby and breakfast area were under renovation, which is fine, however the "breakfast" was very minimal as compared to other Days Inns. This was a small inn, competing with larger, far more luxurious hotels, in a seacoast community. We were looking for value, as we only slept in the rooms, but we were not pleased with our overall experience. Sadly I expect some of the rooms are rented out to "the trade".
