“Overflowing toilet / no help from staff”

There was a message on our room phone when we arrived welcoming us and suggesting that if there was anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable we should let them know.... well this turning out to be a joke... because we did need assitance.. and received nothing. !In the morning we had an overflowing toilet. I immediately called the front desk and was told "Well we have a plunger down here.." Are you kidding me ! I was suppose to go down to the lobby and get the plunger !! I was standing wet in a towel after taking a shower. I told him that the carpet was about to get wet... and that they should do something if they wanted to save their carpet. He said they would send housekeeping down..... so we waited and waited. My daughter needed to take a shower ... we had an appointment at 9am at the college.... and she was already stressed out about it. So she had to tip toe thru the toilet water to get to the shower and use a hand towel to dry off as we had used all our towels to soak up what we could of the toilet water. Housekeeping never came and the carpet was soaked when we left. I explained this to the front desk again on the way out and she explained that they only had one housekeeper on staff and that it was busy in the lobby with breakfast. I said.. well if you want to save your carpet you should send somebody... and then she said "I understand... I just was apologizing " But the truth is nobody ever apologized to us. Upon reflection... I think I might have been more understanding if somebody.. anybody had apologized "Oh I'm so sorry... we only have one housekeeper on staff and I wont be able to send her for another 30 minutes.... " rather than "Well.... there is a plunger down here" and then making it worse by making us wait and wait for the housekeeper that never came. Your staffing is not adequete if you can't even respond to an overflowing toilet !
