“It worked but was not impressed”

I needed a day room at JFK. Our red-eye flight was arriving at 7:00am and we needed a room from 8:30am to 2:00pm. There are no "Day Room" options around the JFK airport but the Days Inn was the only hotel willing to work with me (the other hotels in the vicinity were more of the "cannot" attitude). Sachi the reservation agent was very helpful. We booked a room for the previous night with a guaranteed late check in and they offered us a late check out (2:00pm) at no extra cost. That was fine. The rate was pricey but Sachi did his best to help me find the best rate that applied to us. When we checked in, the hotel is .... fine. There is nothing outstanding about the location or the parking or the lobby or the room. It works. My disappointment came in the fact that they had put us in the one room right next to breakfast nook, next to the elevator and in front of the housekeeping main work room. Even if they had tried to give us a noisier, louder, more disturbing room, they could not have found one. According to the check-in agent, it was the only room left in the entire hotel. Please note that I have called 3 times with 1 month's notice about this room and needed a room let the children sleep during the day time. This was the best that they could do. At 1:00pm the maid came knocking on the door to ask us when we'd be ready to check out since check out was at noon.We we did check out at 2:00pm -, I did complain to the manager who discounted our bill by 20%. In the end it worked. We got a room, it was clean and available during the hours of 8:30am to 2:00pm. Was it restful? No. Would I go there again? No. Would I recommend it? No. But it did work. All taxes in, we paid $160us for that room and that was with 2 discounts.
