“Smoking hotel, dirty room”

  , Tucson
On a recent business trip to NYC my wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. Overall, what made our experience disappointing was the general disinterest of the staff in helping to rectify some pretty big issues. When we arrived back at the hotel on our second night there was an overwhelming smell of someone smoking pot on our floor, and the smell had made its way under our door and had filled our room as well. We tried calling down to the front desk three times over the course of a little more than 30 minutes, but no one answered. The smell was just as strong the next morning when we got up, and there was more smoke in the hallway. When we called down, the guy manning the front desk blew us off, and when we went down to speak with him in person his response was, "what do you want me to do? Go knock on every door?" He did nothing, though. We also found a lot of human hair around the room, and on the blankets that were on the bed. There was long hair on the ceiling of the bathroom, and what appeared to be pubic hair in the blankets on the bed. When we called down and asked for another blanket, we were told that they didn't have any others, and there was no offer or effort to solve this issue. The price was low, and the location was very convenient (really close to the subway and a quick ride into Manhattan). One of the staff members (can't remember his name) was extremely helpful and nice throughout our stay, but otherwise this hotel really failed to meet even basic standards of cleanliness and responsive staffing.
