“Do not stay at this hotel unless you like bugs and filth”

  , Orlando
My wife made this reservation for me as my daughter just started at FSU this year and I needed a place to stay for parents weekend. I was a little thrown back by the grossly inflated price of $240/nt, regularly around $50-$60/nt. Talk about price gouging. I would have even accepted the cost if the hotel had partially lived up to some of the other hotels I have stayed in over the years for the same amount of money. If I owned this hotel I would be embarrassed. I found a roach crawling in the sink of the first room I was given which along with the bug came with sheets that didn't fit the bed and a comforter and blanket riddled with burn holes. Obviously unhappy, I went back down to the front desk which by the way smells like someone died in there. However, that aside I quietly explained my concerns and nicely asked for another room. After a few minutes the girls behind the desk made a couple of phone calls and told me they would gladly switch my room. The next room as far as I could tell was at least without bugs. However it did not change the fact that the bathtub was left with this disgustingly dirty mat inside of it and what looked to be some sort of glue poorly holding together about a 3' crack in the tub that would leak outside the tub onto the floor when you got out. The carpet looked as though no one had vacuumed it. There were cigar and cigarette butts on it as well as what looked to be spit or something on the wall and around the baseboards. The first morning a woman came by and asked me for my dirty towels, I asked her if she had others to replace the ones she had taken and she just kept on walking. Later that day I asked the maid if we would be getting more towels and she told me they would bring some by later. That night I went down to the office and got more towels as they were never replaced. As far as the comfort of the bed goes, both myself and my daughter's Godfather who was with me that weekend woke up with both back and neck pain. The bed had a support factor of 0. All in all if wasn't because there were no other rooms available in a 10 mile radius I certainly would not have stayed there. The things you do for your kids.
