“Will Be Nicer When Construction Is Complete”

  , Northumberland
We stayed at this hotel prior when it was the Sheraton. Overall, the hotel is largely the same as it was then. However, they are doing construction which will improve it in the long run, but has cause issues in the interim. We checked in very late (almost Midnight) after a concert in Quakertown. Check-in was super quick, easy, and friendly. When we got to our room (209), we were about knocked over by the smell: Chlorine and mildew. We couldn't understand it until we moved the curtain and saw that we had a door leading to the pool area, but the pool is under construction, so we had a wood wall about 3 steps out the door, completely blocking the view of the pool. Sadly, it also trapped in hot moist air and the smell of chlorine. We were tired and didn't want to move rooms, and we also had a number of noisy rooms around us, and didn't want to run the risk of getting stuck next to one of them. We figured we wouldn't notice it after we got the a/c running. When we woke up the next morning, we both had terrible headaches, and the smell actually seemed to get worse. We had difficulty keeping a decent temperature in the room and neither of us slept well.We mentioned it when we checked out, and the girl at the desk apologized and said she'd notify Hotwire for a refund, but I haven't seen anything yet, so I'm hoping she doesn't forget. When I unzipped the overnight bag at home, our clothing reeked like Chlorine (and we were in the room for less than 10 hours). Had we been booked for more than an overnight, I would have asked for another room.Other than that, the room was very clean, and very nice, although the desk chair was extremely uncomfortable (one without metal arms on it would be much better). Three things to make it even better: 1) Please put a plug convenient to the desk. We had to crawl under it to plug the laptop in, and 2) A binder with information on where to find the ice machines, etc (there was not one in our room). 3) A list of TV Channels - that was difficult to navigate.I would stay there again and recommend it, but if you're booking, ask for a room away from the pool unless construction is complete.
