“Disappointing Stay at Raleigh Days Inn”

  , Richmond, Virginia
We had a family funeral to attend in Raleigh and our usual hotel, the Embassy Suites, was booked as were most other three-four star hotels because there was a golf tournament taking place. The Crabtree Days Inn was one of four hotels with vacancies located near the church where the services took place, and to the home of our family members. We checked in after 4:00 and our room had no towels, so we had to go back to the lobby to get some (very thin towels!). Two of the lights in the room did not work so it was hard to read. The clock was also off one hour. The king bed was okay, the bathroom was basically clean (other than the floor which needs re-grouting) and the breakfast was adequate with oatmeal, yogurt, and toast. The clientele was mostly workers and there were a number of trucks parked around. The steps to the upstairs were filthy and the motel is in need of major refurbishment. We prefer a hotel with inside doors and this one has outside doors. For the price of about $60, however, we at least had a place to stay close to the church so we did not have to drive a long distance.
