“Fine for a night”

  , Mount Pleasant
To be completely honest, I was worried about staying at a Days Inn... I've gotten spoiled in my old age and am used to a "higher brand" of hotel. However, dance competition trips get expensive and there weren't too many alternatives. I read the reviews on TA and figured I'd give it a shot and save some $$.The property looks fairly new. I like that it has interior hallways (the Days Inn down the road in Little River has outside corridors). Makes me feel safer. I liked that it was just around $80 for the night. I liked that it had a refrigerator (somehow, this isn't readily available in most hotel rooms I've been in recently). The bed was fairly comfortable and the pillows were better than average. On the negative side, the room wasn't sparkling clean. There was a dead gnat in the sink and another on the bed. Worse was the hair on the bed (use your imagination as to which kind of hair it looked like). There was something in the shower - a bug, maybe, but it was small. My daughter was pretty sure that the sheets hadn't been changed. I pretended to believe that they absolutely were because it was late and I was tired. Our room faced the highway - and the lighted sign. The drapes didn't overlap the edges of the window, so a fair amount of light came into the room all night. Also - the alarm clock was unplugged. I went to plug it in and determined that there wasn't any convenient plug near the bed. Had to plug it in on the desk. Not a huge deal, but kind of weird. Finally, thin walls and a pretty good gap at the bottom of the door made for a noisy night. Fortunately things quieted down after about 11:00; unfortunately, neighbors started slamming doors around 6. Breakfast was "eh". There was cereal and milk, though, which was fine. And my daughter enjoyed her waffle. In short - if I need to stay in Shallot again, I might stay at the Days Inn again. Not completely sold on it, but not entirely against it either.
