“Friendly Staff, Disgusting Hotel”

  , Calhoun
The clerk at check-in was very nice. He was very personable and friendly, which was good because it took about ten or fifteen minutes for him to check us in. The computer system was down. This hotel is in very poor condition. It should be gutted or torn down. Our room had many problems. If we had arrived earlier in the evening, I would have gone to another hotel. However, it was late at night. We were tired, and so we stayed in this horrible hotel room. The room looked even worse in the daylight the next morning. Wallpaper was peeling. The carpet was torn. Upholstery was stained. The beds were uncomfortable. The mattresses were worn out. The heating unit was rather noisy, and the room smelled musty, even though it was a non-smoking room. Toilet and shower fixtures were old. Water ran in the toilet all night. This room is what I might expect if I was paying $25 a night. At breakfast the next morning, we found warm juice and waffle batter that looked thin and curdled. Also, I was concerned that my kids might burn themselves on the hot waffle iron. (Actually, I singed my own fingers on i!.) The poor night clerk was still on duty. We had a pleasant conversation with him...nice guy, disgusting hotel.
