“Smelled of Cigarette Smoke”

  , Syosset
On a positive note, the linens were clean and the bed was very comfortable. We paid approximately $75.00 for the night and it included a very nice continental breakfast for three adults.I found it unacceptable that there was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke in our bedroom as well as in the hallways. At one time I went into the hallway to double check if I was in a smoking wing of the building. All of the rooms in my wing were non-smoking. The smell of smoke appeared to be in the walls because the linens did not smell of smoke. We were forced to leave the air conditioning on all night so we did not have to smell the smoke. A minor inconvenience was the staff member was grumpy on check in. When I asked if she could recommend a good restaurant for dinner, she refused to answer the question. Perhaps, English was her second language, however, I was not expecting her to be so grumpy. When we checked out the staff member was very friendly.
