1. I appreciated staying at a Days Inn that was so close to the Amtrak station in Toledo. 2. In the evening when we arrived, Ashley was very kind and helpful at the desk. 3. I understand the need to preserve energy, but because the breakfast room was very cold (in the high 50s or low 60s) the breakfast room was very cold and uninviting. It felt like the management was trying to fulfill an obligation of providing a breakfast, but not really living up to the spirit of providing an inviting breakfast. 4. In the morning, there was a man panhandling for money in the lobby about 15 feet from the main desk. That didn't lend credibility to the sense of safety for my family in the facility.5. The halls in the common areas of the motel were also very cold (maybe upper 50s or low 60s) and not very inviting. I realize it's expensive to heat a building in winter, but it also was not inviting. 6. Our room was pretty clean, but our room, and the whole facility felt very worn and "tired" as though no one really cared. One example would be that there is a green indoor/outdoor carpet (that leads out of the facility toward the parking lot) that had come loose, and was wrinkled up at the end causing a trip hazard. The carpet was also weighed down by a large brick from the landscaping retaining wall to keep it from curling up any worse. Another example of the "tired, no one seems to care" attitude was a pile of several pieces of wood (and bricks?) outside the pool structure that we could see from the sliding door from our room. It looked like it may have been there for a long time. 6. The finial at the head of one of the double beds was bent over at a strange angle. 7. The repainting had been done somewhat sloppily. For example, when the bathroom door had been painted, the painters had not removed the door handle, and had gotten a great deal of paint on the handle. 8. There was a potato chip bag from a previous occupant under the center of one of the beds. My wife saw it when she did a complete room check.9. We will come back a second time, only because the motel is the least expensive motel just several miles from the Amtrak station and the Enterprise car rental site, and there is no Motel 6 close by.
